Hey Grizzly that really is a very interesting find that you've made leading to the question:

What possibly could Sam Peralta an ex POET director be doing looking at a TSX listed firm with the ticker PET?

Here is a seemingly struggling firm, Peat Resources Limited. which has been focused on looking to exploit peat resources inNewfoundland and Larador, peat being that coal substitute much loved by Wales's Irish neighbours. It has no revenue and has been borrowing to keep the show on the road. Yet here it is talking about pivoting its business. Such a change in direction is entirely understandable given the current state of the oil market and the earlier trend to find different carbon sources to burn inpower station. Yet here it is employing a consultant, Sam, and issuing him some options in the process. So what is Sam up to?

Even with my limited technical knowledge I can see there is no possible benefit to be derived from POET burning peat in its integrated monolithic GaAs Chip, but to answer the question posed. I am in danger of being in some difficulty given the antispeculation lobby developing on this board dampening all the fun. But I will anyway and be dammed.

Here's the facts about what happened to our former Director from POET's new release of November 17th 2014.:

Samuel Peralta Retires from the Board. Dr. Samuel Peralta has resigned from the Board due to other commitments.

The Company has become one of the leading contenders in the semiconductor industry’s race to establish a new manufacturing paradigm to further Moore’s Law. Dr. Peralta stated: “It’s been an honor to serve with this Board, and I’m proud of being a part of the team that progressed POET operationally, financially, and technically to the point it is now. I have no doubt that, following the strategy we’ve put in place, POET will see continued success at the forefront of the next revolution in the semiconductor industry.”

The Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee has recommended that current director, Chris Tsiofas, replace Mr. Peralta as the Chairman of the Compensation Committee and that current director, Sheldon Inwentash, replace Mr. Peralta on the Audit Committee.

Sam's linkedin summary says:

• Board of Director leadership - governance; compensation; audit; capital markets

• Executive & operations experience - business development; process improvement; large-scale project management; product development & innovation; mergers & acquisitions; start-ups

• Key industries - technology, energy, mobile computing, new media

Part of the POET gwoeth will be to generate significant benefits to many industry verticals. Given Sam's energy, knowledge and experience with POET it would not be surprising if someone in the know, as he is, would not wish to benefit from the introduction of such an innovative disruptive technology now it has reached such a mature state of development.

But it is intriguing that he has chosen to associate with a company whose ticker is PET. Mmmmhhhh? One cannot but wonder whether there is some tie in with PTI but he may be just going it alone and has found some way to make himself a very wealth man.

The best of luck to him I say.
