QuantumX: What if Poet somehow had received a secret "wish foundation" gift. Of , lets say 30 engineers, scientific types required as may have been mentioned in the much ballyhooed "London video"?

What if PTK had access to all that and more? Could they make that monolithic chip ?

Well, okay, we don't know what is going on behind the scenes and we can't rule out anything with 100 % certainty. That said, the effort to design, test, and produce a CPU chip based on the POET technology is several orders of magnitude above a VCSEL transceiver. "Semiconductors from idea to product" might give a general idea of the complexity and of the time and effort these things require. In my opinion there's simply not enough time. Not if you copied an existing CPU design one to one, let alone establishing a brand-new CPU architecture.

But what if the whole VCSEL transceiver effort is nothing but a distraction from the real poetic and fruity CPU? From a development that is taking place since, say, 2014? I'd call this a conspirary theory and – to quote M. I. Balonov from the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences in a very different context – is "in a range of rather science fiction than science."
