Founded in October 2010, Wavetek Microelectronics Corporation is a member of UMC's New Business Group. Wavetek is located at UMC Fab 6A in the Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan, and was established as the science park’s first 6-inch GaAs (Gallium Arsenide) foundry.
Wavetek owns the most highly advanced III-V manufacturing process and facility that leverages expansive scale to deliver competitive, value-added products and services for customers. We provide high-performance, customized features and high-quality GaAs MMICs (Monolithic Microwave ICs) and RFIC (Radio-frequency ICs) for commercial applications, as well as III-V CPV (Concentrated Photovoltaic) cell chips for the field of renewable energy.
Wavetek supplies dedicated, flexible, and competitive foundry services to global design houses and IDM partners using III-V processes for their ICs. The company also maintains a technically sound and continuously innovative research and development team for III-V technologies. We uphold UMC's first-class manufacturing capability as well as a pragmatic and efficient management team to create maximum value for our customers.
To align with UMC’s operating plan, Wavetek fully acquired UMC Fab 6A’s fixed assets and all 6 inch Silicon-based CMOS product lines in April, 2015. Through this asset transition, Wavetek formally entered the Silicon-based CMOS foundry business, and aims to further solidify its future revenue foundation and strengthen its financial structure by aligning closer with market demand to better address customer requirements. Expanding Wavetek’s GaAs capacity will better serve global customers with foundry services and ample capacity to achieve corporate sustainable operations.
By offering cutting-edge foundry services with the broadest product portfolio in the III-V and CMOS specialty technology industry and an optimized, unique and dual foundry business model, Wavetek expects to soon lead the global specialty semiconductor market.
