Holk, I think your sentiment expressed above is shared by many. However, to me, it reminds me of parents (especially dads) of various girlfriends in my early days - they didn't like me much when I was in their daughter's life, but they spoke glowingly about their daughter's past boyfriends, and when I became a past boyfriend, they spoke well of me and didn't care for the new guy.
