Heres a good review by CNET about the above technology and the 2 companies leading the way : AYAR labs and Risc-V.

Seems they are doing as well what IBM is doing with silicon photonics. These do seem to be direct competitors to POET and the race is on although from what I understand our tech is superior. They are trying to get chips out there in 2017 - but seem behind the progress POET has made. AS well interesting read on Apple above as well and seems POET would fit perfectly with what they plan on doing and have done in making their own chips. Apple surely wants to be the best and POET seems to be the best option out there. Also not sure why there is so much news and reviews on these silicon photonics companies compared to POET - unless an unamed partner is keeping POET secret or stealth hopefully in everyones best interest.
Thats my take on it ( keeping in mind this is after a 15 minute read between bringing kids to hockey with very little tech background)
Would love to hear our forums smarter members take on this. Understanding the competition out there to me is essential at understanding my investment and to knowing if that light at the end of the tunnel is that blue ocean they speak of or an oncoming frieght train lol
