Comparisons of POET all come down to the monolithic nature of the POET GaAs Chip, with a laser on board and all the advantages that come from GaAs. Form factor, speed, low energy and the POET lesser bill of parts and cheaper manufacturing process. Actual comparison with a competitor is downline at the the prototype stage at the earliest.
The interesting part is the number of such competitor offerings that are emerging. Fear and sweaty brows of such risks will feed the doom sayers but in reality, and I think SV said as much, such competition should be taken as healthy. It is evidence that POET is aimed at at least one key technological problem that urgently needs resolution, there are of course fortunately many other problems that POET will resolve and some of those may well be what our hidden partners may be engaged in at this very moment.
Of course timing is everything. Here we have to trust our technical team and management to perform. Actually, I am rather expecting them to out-perform in this market place and on face value, I would say that we have all the brainpower and experience necessary to do this. Our suspicions of an influential partner will also play a key part here, as they too will have their marketing plans with their eyes firmly fixed on what the opposition are up too.
We expect results but we cannot illiminate risk entirely. This is what venture capital investment is all about and why the ultimate returns are high and capable of seriously affecting ones wealth. Evaluate the potential, place your faith in your team and have the courage to take the roller coaster ride it will be otherwise, perhaps one should consider the the teacup roudabout ride is the better choice for you.
In summary do not let irrational fear of competition blunt your blade.
