In my opinion patents are proof points, although somewhat weaker ones since they don't have an impact on the near-term commercial targets. They might become more important in the distant future. Still they are proving broadness and applicability of the POET platform (read: more potential revenues).
Another proof point is the engagement of Dr. Liew-Chuang Chui as VP (or whatever) for Product Development. Please help me, what is it you need someone for Product Development for?
An important proof point would be the commitment of a foundry to retool a large fab for the POET process in order to mass-produce POET VCSEL transceivers. This is a proof point we haven't seen yet, but I hope we'll get an announcement soon, perhaps before the next conference call.
Oh, yes, and the accelerated move to San José of course! It demonstrates POET can achieve its targets and is hopefully an example of under promising and over delivery.
