Mackwheaton: Can anyone post this info to the links library?

I forgot to ask Mike and Pavit for a digital version when we met in Frankfurt. However, I received a message from Mike saying Pavit would mail the presentation to me. As soon as I have it, I'll post it to the link library. But it could also show up on the POET website anytime.

Mackwheaton: Up to 100x lower power per link than copper Is mentioned. Have we heard that before, or is that one of the evolving improvements as anticipated in the Sept 30 call? I do not recall seeing that level of performance mentioned before.

We have heard this already. The information is buried in the White Paper. I visualized it in this blog post (first figure, showing the power consumptions of passive copper, active copper, and MMF VCSEL). You get a factor of 100 if you compare the 15 mW of the VCSEL tranceiver to the 1.5 W of a copper cable with power managent ("active copper"). Compared to a passive copper cable you even have 200x power savings.

Taking into account that the VCSEL in this comparison is a standard VCSEL, not a POET VCSEL, the numbers might even be better. But I like POET's conservative approach here!
