I don't think the progression of POET towards quantum computing will require a "Big, super cooled fridge" capable of creating a temperature of -273 Celcious. (imagine the power that would require)

The other thing I would say about this company (a competitor in the race, no doubt) is that total investment by Lockheed Martin, Q-Tel and Jeff Bezos is only 100 million combined. It sounds like a lot, but I would imagine the technology would be 10 times more valuable if it was actually close to being viable.
