PET is POET without optics which was the priority 'low hanging fruit' target of the previous operational plan. PET would be used as a faster cheaper smaller module on a chip to compete with Silicon CMOS products. No heat requiring fans, less power (charge you phone less often) build using existing fabrication tools mainly. My theory is that this goal could have been completed to prototype stage.
