Message: Being on Board

Sheldon, as many have already mentioned, most likely didn't have much in the way of "insider info".

I have experienced this truth first hand. Immediate family members of mine have been directors on publically traded companies over the years. Many of these companies they joined because they knew those involved, had trust or interest in the company, and were able to add some level of expertise to its management or governing.

They gave their honest opinions of the company and suggested that they might be good buys. Never was insider information shared (aside from the legal matter of doing that, I know they weren't privy to the finer details behind the scenes). In some cases, their own siblings, children, friends all ended up losing a lot. Not because they were played, but simply because the directors weren't privy to as much info as those actively involved with the day to day operations, and what they perceived as being a promising investment...simply wasn't.

In these cases, they saw their own holdings lose great value before they were cleared or able to sell. So a director certainly does not mean they are privy to the same details as top management.

SI, being as he was, almost certainly was not granted that privilege.

He did however have a lot of interest and faith in the company...or at least in his investment. He may not be gone forever. He still likes to make money. One way to look at this...if he did in fact sell a bulk of his holdings...at a profit...and has since invested it in KEK which has multiplied 5x higher, well now he just has a hell of a lot more money to work with.

When the time is right for him, and he sees the opportunity he was waiting for to make a killing on POET (he did choose POET over his own company after all), I think he won't pass up the chance to get back in...and now he has (supposedly) 5x as much $ to invest. This could be a positive.
