Fairchij: Does anyone really think this new company wants Pinetree to have any part in its Silicon Valley future? Short term pain here folks when you really think about POET's long term future.

Good point, Fairchij! Short term pain, long term gain. The current drop is the price we have to pay to get Pinetree out of the game or at least have their influence reduced. And unless someone has to sell, there's not even a real price to pay, but just some paper losses. The share price will recover quickly once Pinetree's selling pressure is gone, let alone the POET news release hits the headlines.
