Message: Keep Calm and Carry On

The now routine complaint about lack of news, delays and the blame game that follows has occupied a number of posts. This is understandable to a degree as we are all led to expect news. But in reality fretting over not getting something you want when you want it is a self inflicted stress inducing state of mind that benefits no one. Watching my neighbour’s toddler have a melt down over being denied the ice cream when the icecream van's jingle is heard is pavlovian in nature and something which reminds us where this form of behaviour really belongs.

Yes we will all feel stress to some degree in the circumstances especially when we are all so primed and ready for good news. But investing in POET should mean that you’ve been around this buoy so many times before with this company that we should be conditioned to expect the frustration in the full knowledge that this will evaporate immediately and be forgotten when news eventually arrives. Which may be today. So venting your frustration on this board about such a common event simply serves nothing or no one.

Why not try to rationalise, that the highly experienced professionals who manage our company will issue news once they have all the facts at their disposal, the correct circumstance for releasing news and the approval of all required to approve the release. Surely, where partners or contracts may be involved, the approval quality assurance process adopted by our team will take time, and may require a number of iterations, before release. These factors cannot be predicted in project planning regardless of how much stretch you build into the project plan.. We must give management the benefit of the doubt in such a complex project, and also whatever time the management deem necessary to engineer the run up to a new listing requires. There really is the probability that far more factors to be resolved than we are aware of before NR can be released. Trust is required not petulance.

I cannot imagine anyone here would possibly interpret the current situation as a sell trigger given the fantastic potential built up in this amazing technology and the amazing team of high ability people who now run the show. So how about just sitting out the frustrations binning the petulance. We certainly don’t need to be reminded about something we are already quite familiar and should expect a degree of disappointment about timings.

By staying calm you will be in a better state of mind when news comes. News which might well be a moment that alters your life, as well as the future of Integrated Circuits forever. Agreed hard to be calm at such exciting times with that prospect in mind, but we’re just going to have to man up to the challenge, there's no choice really.

As the old wartime advert in London said:

'keep calm and carry on'
