Not to mention GaAs' higher resistance to Radiation which would allow it to be the preferred choice for military, space and other specific applications. There is enormous spending on these contracts.

Many of these Silicon innovations are near the end of their ability to squeeze what they can out of or into Silicon production. GaAs would be the newborn with many years of continued development to carry it well into the future. We aren't even seeing the tip of the iceberg yet.
