Did no one here understand the ramifications of Intel laying off workers?
There are chinks in Intel's armor, and this is now some very public evidence of that.
Their research budget is being cut by $300 million. This means that their markets are contracting, and there questions regarding future direction.
They do not see a quick solution, or else they would not be laying people off.
This is directly tied to silicon hitting some walls as evidenced by the struggles at 14nm.
