Since silicon always and inherently has a hard time struggling with its indirect bandwidth impediments, the POET VCSEL or any other sort of laser based on gallium arsenide with its direct bandgap will emit much brighter light at the same energy or the same light with much lower energy.

Can't wait to see the actual numbers of our VCSEL milestone, explaining what "much" really means! Alas, it's time for one more dose of patience™.
