Good points - in other industries you often see people leaving on announcement of accepting a position elsewhere. In fact, sometimes they are not even allowed back into their offices in to clean out their desks order to protect client lists, etc.

Another point indicating Dr. Deshmukh is leaving on good terms and the possbility of a future working relationship between Applied Materials and POET is that I'm sure he would have a non-compete clause in his employment contract. Speculation of course on my part, but not likely AM would waive that clause unless ......................
