If Dr. Taylor has all his ducks in a row, he can take on an Emeritus type role and provide guidance as needed. I'm sure additional stock options will come his way as the price soars. And certainly a permanent seat on the BOD (or as long as he wants).
I am assuming he will not only have packed his knowledge up in an internal set of research protocols, but will have (a la Steve Jobs) worked out a roadmap structured around his way of doing things.
Everything is ultimately commoditized, but he will have his chance to leave his imprint on new technology that may be developed without his micromanagement, for the forseeable future.
IMHO.
