With due respect, I disagree. Being highly recognized in a certain community is something you have to maintain or you'll lose it. Ajit has such a position, and this is an incredibly valuable asset. He should not give it up, but rather extend his network and spend time with people who could be or connect to future partners or customers!
Regarding his title, this is at the discretion of the news release's issuer, i.e. the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). Of course they want to convey to their readers how very much respected the chairman of the US delegation is. So they are using Ajit's highest position so far and this is undoubtedly having been CEO of GlobalFoundries. I am sorry to say that, but being someone from some small company nobody has heard of simply doesn't qualify. Not yet.
