Apple Inc. Chip Suppliers Already Clamouring To Win A10 Processor Orders
TSMC is expanding its capacity with a 10nm pilot line, in a bid secure chip orders for the seventh-generation iPhone ahead of Samsung and other competitors
The first Apple Inc. (
NASDAQ:AAPL) device to run the upcoming A9 processors is still a few months away from rolling out, yet hardware manufacturers and chip companies are battling it out to get a slice of the next-gen A10 orders, which are probably going to make their debut with the iPhone 7 sometime in 2016.
Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg. Co. Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:TSM) was dangerously close to losing out on A9 orders to Samsung, and is now looking to secure its most important client by investing in the appropriate equipment to win chip orders for Appleās next flagship device. UDN reports that the Taiwanese firm is looking to establish a 10nm pilot line across 12 factories that are located in Hsinchu by the end of June. The company has also introduced a semiconductor intellectual property program and will start advertising its new offering to potential clients later in the year.
