According to the report, the FWS-I uses long-wave infrared sensor technology designed to boost target acquisition capability, and improve soldier lethality, effectiveness and survivability.
The p-type interface results in LWIR detection (8-12um). By combining both interfaces within POET, MWIR and LWIR detection will be obtained simultaneously in the same pixel.
The company will work to combine the two tools into a single platform with the goal of helping military users acquire targets in any lighting and weather conditions.
