The news from FJ regarding BNN is really terrific. Hopefully, will go over better than the EC Event. It ought to.
Re Chu's response that the company had no contact with AAPL. Perhaps true, after all, Chris wouldn't be dumb enough to state an out and out lie. Perhaps Ajit and Blevins knew each other and Blevins himself became very interested in POET, studied up, met GT, perhaps got approval to get another engineer or two from AAPL to take a look, and perhaps all who saw the POET tech from AAPL were impressed.
The thought of Blevins on this advisory board with Ajit and GT was then tossed around, and Blevins felt he had enough evidence (not to mention whatever goodwill he's collected at AAPL) to go to whoever he had to go at AAPL, told them the story, and they said fine, serve on that board and let's see what develops. That would be pretty favorable, but still would not have involved direct conversation between AAPL and POET, and it would make Chris's statement technically true, or at least arguably defensible.
I've never been PC's greatest fan, but he's done pretty well of late, I'll give him that. However, I still don't think he's the kind of guy who gets AAPL's attention. Given what I've heard from him a few years ago (and even recently), he may even be the kind of guy (Venture Exchange money guy), who AAPL might avoid. Ajit and Tony may be buds, but I think Tony is putting in a lot of his built up political capital into this association with us - it will not inure to his benefit at AAPL if POET blows up in his face.
So, my conclusion is that Tony was drawn in by one thing and one thing alone, the tech. I believe, like most everyone here, that Ajit himself was lured mainly by the tech. And the tech is now, what, a year more advanced than when Ajit was kickin the tires.
I think POET still has some work to do before enough is proven to the satisfaction of the Apples of the world. And I really believe the thoughts of people here are, in some cases, more than a bit ahead of where POET actually is, but the gulf between fantasy and reality has narrowed considerably recently. And that's a good thing!
