So here is a synopsis and a question to the board for its consideration. We know that PC has stated 'on the record' that the POET is not looking for a buyout and their goal was to grow the company organically via the licensing business model but we all know that an offer cannot be denied if the offer itself is the right one. We now know that Apple has a man on the inside which is mammoth.
We also know that in any potential offer, a key component is the buy-in and ongoing support of Dr. Taylor. With Dr. Taylor on the newly created committee along with Mr. Blevins this presents the opportunity to enhance that relationship which would allow Apple to make a move under the following structure. Oh, and Dr. Taylor.....take a look at the resources at your disposal !!!!
POET is acquired by Apple and is established as a wholly-owned subsidiary. POET management is engaged to further develop its pre-determined business model for those applications that do not impair or compete with the entire Apple product line. Apple retains the technology for its entire product lines thus 'eating the lunch' of competition. Perhaps an overly simplistic view but Apple would get the best of both worlds.
My question to the board is this:
How long will it take Apple and how big will the offer be?
