if I had to put a number to it, imo I'd say PET (electrical only) has perhaps a 20 year lifespan or more before it starts to encounter "the same problems as silicon".

full-blown POET (adding optical), on the other hand, should add at least that much timespan again.

between now and then, Taylor's work in the quantum domain will firmly take hold, and that's getting into Star Trek land (from the perspective of trying to predict things in advance).

short answer: it's your great-grandchildren's problem, not yours.
