If you noticed the date of this article, it is 2012, so it might be fun to see how Intel's bold and arrogant statements, ie industry forcasts, projections, and predictions through the lens of hindsight. With that in mind, how terribly wrong they were in predicting the collapse of the fabless model and normal foundries. As if Intel was the only ones capable of producing integrated chips. There are a few examples I can point out that are flourishing like ARM and Synopysis. I also see POET on the horizon, ready to displace the floundering beheamoth. They have taken many wrong turns along the way. I think they stayed in their comfort zone with silicon and underestimated the ingenuity of others who rolled up their sleeves and hammered out new ways of doing things. Its called innovation.
