I'm curious how robust GaAs chips might be in the engine bay as opposed to Silicon chips. Heat is an issue with automotive electronics, and though manufacturers have done a better job in recent years shielding these components from as much heat as possible, I still think many eventual failures of expensive components are probably attributable to heat damage.
