I think its more about that POET is in too early of a stage for them to care. They all have enough cash that once a technology like POET is proven and represents a real risk to some of these companies, they will have no problem at that time to take POET out.
I think the talk of Intel's arrogance and this and that is way to premature. Lets get a prototype completed before we think companies like Intel, are actually aware or care what POET is doing at this stage. Even if they do, with companies like Intel it will be business as usual and they will continue on with their multi-year business plan until something comes up that forces them to change it. They don't think like we do as high-risk investors.
Companies like that are much more risk-averse and will be willing to pay up once a real threat materializes. If POET is still working on getting to a prototype stage, then clearly it is way too early for megacap companies like Intel to bat an eye until the performances numbers are available and chips are being mass produced, to prove its legitmacy. Just the same way junior resources companies aren't generally taken out by the big boys in the industry until their resource is fully defined with a feasibility study completed which greatly reduces the risk to them.
When the time comes and the revenue is there, thats when they will get interested, and believe me, they will pay up!
