Shessorry: I'm surprised he said if. He does not sound like a professional if he doesn't realize this is a sure thing.

"I thought the presentation showed an exciting company on the cusp of major growth potential IF they can sign at least one major commercial partner"

Shessorry, I am sorry, but I think the opposite is true and this statement shows true professionalism or should I say the opposite of a gambling nature.

They heard about POET probably for the first time and I can imagine they are excited. However, the whole POET story might seem to be to good to be true, so they might think it isn't true. On the other hand, they experienced Ajit, Peter and Stephane and how bold, self-assured and passionate they are.

With regards to the factual contents, i.e. semiconductors, solid-state physics etc. they cannot asses the technology. So it is a professional stance to have experts do the evaluation of the POET technology. And who could do that any better than a company that would close a deal with POET Technologies? Yes, only IF POET is able to sign a deal with at least one major commercial partner, you can be sure that this is a sure thing.

I think this is a reasonable attitude to secure your invested capital. It might not maximize your gains, but it surely reduces your risk considerably.

There are surely many, many investors resp. large sums of investment money with such a stance. They are not ready to assume the risk to invest in a company before proven commercializability. However, once the latter is confirmed, they jump in, propelling the share price stratospherically.

That's the way to go to Nasdaq in June and pre-revenue.
