As far as I know:

In case of these buy-ins the naked shorts are obliged to deliver today.
They can not buy in the market, as there it takes up to two days until the shares are "delivered". But sometimes they can find someone who is lending these shares - vs. a nice premium... If not, the buy-ins will do the job.
