It is time to refocus on the good news already given. PC our acting CEO tells us in the news update of 8 Jan 15
'our transition from “Lab-to-Fab” has begunwith many industry Non-Disclosure Agreement (“NDA”) discussions that have been initiatedthrough the work of Mr. Ajit Manocha, our Co-Chairman. Some of our milestones have had to evolve during 2014 because of industry relationship considerations and priorities. These evolving changes have made the updated milestones more significant to the market place.'
The first phrase, emboldened by me, is a clear indication that interest if not actual customers are building up in Silicon Valley, Later in the announcement the hire of new staff is mentioned which was brought forward by seven months as compared to the previous news report. I ask you is this not a clear indication of the growing potential for revenue.
The second phrase, again emboldened by me, demonstrate the evolving nature of our relationship with at least one industrial customer/partner who appears to be making technical changes to specifications. As anyone knows who’s been involved in project management this usually translates into extra time and extra cost. I read this statement as: we rationally can expect a delay in the technical side of lab to fab announcements. Since the completion date in the CP is January and this has not changed, it would appear to be a blip rather than a major consideration. But I support the logic that it is better to get it right technically before any announcements are made; there must be no fudging the issues or rushing here to retain credibility
There are a number of words of note besides the phrases I have emboldened. Be sure that these words are chosen carefully and convey substance not detail.
‘has begun’ – lab to fab is happening now
‘Many discussion’s – the build-up of interest is really growing.
Given also PC’s earlier point in the News Release of 8 Jan 15 “POET enters 2015 in excellent financial shape,” I am sure he knew what was coming with PNP and this is our reassurance that all is well.
My point that even in the light of the PNP saga and the traditional drop in SP following an expectation of news (which we should all be used to by now) as well as a rational reason for some delay in technical news, we must focus on the fact that POET fundamentals remain sound. I am particularly encouraged by the news of new staff hirings to bolster the US Silicon Valley initiative; you only announce this if you are confident your business case is sound and on track.
