You are right, it will not have a bearing on the technology itself, but will certainly have a bearing on the SP as all external factors contribute to where the SP is. For example, if this was the late 1990s, POET would likely already be trading in the 10's of dollars just based on potential alone to disrupt a massive market, but these days are much different. Too bad for us. If there was more trading volume and trust in the markets and the venture was in a healthy state, we would likely be multiples higher as well regardless whether there is revenue yet or not. It just happens that due to the state of all these external factors that play a role in markets today, revenue is needed for us to get anywhere meaningful. Same applies for all other external factors like what countries are in trouble, who's at war, and including who the majority shareholders are and what they do with their stock. These effects may appear to be short term, but really do have more of an effect then some realize long term. Short term I define as weeks or even months.

All these external factors contibute and make a difference on whether you get the massive news we've all been waiting for on top of a $1 share price that takes you to $3-4 or one that is already $10 and takes you to $20-30. Whether it makes sense or not, valuations the market gives on stocks aren't always logical and have a lot to do with external factors. Sure things might work themselves out in the long term (3-5 yrs), but what other external factors will come into play between now and then. Pinetree's current condition may or many not make a difference, but its silly to ignore it IMO. Hope that makes sense because I don't have the time right now to refine the point I'm trying to make.
