In a previous post about possible CEO's, I mentioned Poet's possible link with Fairchild Semiconductor.

I became interested in finding more about Fairchild & their potential as one of Poet's possible partners after reading the following quote,
"Fairchild sells low-price circuitry components used in smartphones, cars and other appliances. Unlike companies such as Intel, which make ultrasmall circuitry on high-end chips, Fairchild uses older production lines to churn out its semiconductors."

In December 1998, Fairchild announced the acquisition of Samsung's power division, which made power MOSFETs, IGBTs, etc. The deal was finalized in April 1999 for $450 million.
To this day, Fairchild remains an important supplier for Samsung.
