I am not sure that Anglo Saxson is well understood in North America, Was it not Churchill who said of American and Britain that they were 'two countries separated by a common language' - probably not.

I once played the word game Boggle in Canada, the aim of Boggle is to communicate the meaning of a given word to your partner without using it, ideally by association or simerly etc. It soon became quite obvious that words have different subtlties in Canada and I suspect America also.

In NATO we generally had to use American spellings as staff officers to avoid confusion since the English are naturally able to compensate for variance.
