I see I forgot to mention that I'm not a scotch drinker...single malt or otherwise. Hence my further amazement at the extravagance.

I'm a red wine and Port guy....I have to be, my Dad was a red wine maker (from real grapes)from '68 until his passing 24 months ago. I agree that most times, the more expensive wines are better....but I find the discernable differences to be less and less once you get past $40-50/per bottle.

I and a bunch of friends did a red wine tasting test a few years back and all 9 people lost their ability to tell the good from the not-so-good part way through their second 6 oz. glass. That's a common opimian finding.

Nevertheless, like Harry said about scotch, good wine is what you enjoy drinking. Cheers!
