f Rory is going to be the new CEO...

From Seeking Alpha

He likes low power…

Ross Seymore - Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.
How do you view it and do you even think it is a market that’s necessarily worth going after so it seems to be slowing like you said and commoditizing in my view.
Rory Read - President and CEO
Well, it's attractive because it’s volume. Low power is going to be a trend, so everything you're going to see us work in graphics and in compute on our next-generation architectures and even our current products look at the work that we've been doing to reduce the power envelope of every one of the product, that trend is not going to stop, whether it's in tablets or different form factors of phablets or whatever that low-power is going to be key, and AMD has been on a march for the past three years to continue down that path.

Moore’s law needs new technology…

Just a question on as Moore's Law continues to see challenges, you mentioned 28-nanometer seeing extended life, to what extent do you see AMD considering alternative substrates to your manufacturing process, FD-SOI or things of that nature.
Rory Read - President and CEO
So, we have a whole set of technologies that are looking at -- what they're doing is they're looking at the cost curves and the technologies that can be applied. And what we're doing differently in the past is that we're not looking at just at the technology and what's the newest interesting thing. What we're doing is taking that technology with the business leaders and the sales people to work with the customer, and say, hey, if we can create this with this technology, would that be differentiated and could we monetize it? And then based on that, we're making that.
So, to answer the question, we're looking at all different technologies we are looking with our foundry partners, and we're making the business decision combined with technology with feedback from the market to choose the best path forward, and that's something that we're fundamentally doing different. That's how we creating a different AMD. Okay?
