I am sorry if this has already been posted. (forgive me IAS for borrowing your tag line) :)
I was just doing a quick sweep of POET's web site and clicked on the "POET Overview" link on the "About The Company" tab. That link has been on various versions of POET's(or OPEL's) site for years so I normally don't click on it. This time I discovered an updated document that I think is very well written and provides a great primer for anyone just starting to learn about POET. POET's latest efforts are outlined and it has some familiar claims of performance. (did someone say 100GHz???)
Anyway, well worth the read. It's 6 pages long and here are just a couple quotes that stood out to me on a quick read through (bold mine):
●"The Company’s business plan is to provide a complete entry level prescription for the POET integration platform, and thereby work with key players in the semiconductor industry value chain, including circuit design houses, software tool providers, foundries, assembly houses and test tool providers as well as electronic original equipment manufacturers (“OEMs”), to showcase the capabilities of POET technology and then enable large scale manufacturing of GaAs VLSI optoelectronic circuits."
(Foundry 2.0? Also note that they will be working with OEM's)
●"The Company has made the strategic decision to eliminate its dependency on SBIR grants. We remain active, however, in the military sector."
●"The POET process is being designed to offer both p-channel and n-channel HFET devices with complementary threshold voltages. These devices are expected to be usable in both low-noise radio-frequency applications and in high-speed, low power logic applications. Complementary HFET logic has a potential speed-power ratio above that of silicon CMOS, owing to the higher mobility of the InGaAs material, and can form very low power logic running at speeds to over 100 GHz."
(I take this to mean the potential is there but initially we should expect complementary speeds closer to the more recent projections by the company.)

It was updated on October 20, 2014 (at least according to the document properties), so I'm surprised I don't remember seeing anyone talk about it yet. I've posted a link in the link library as well. Like I said, it's a great starting place for new investers.
Goodnight, and here's to a great week ahead.
