Good job Mack. What would Chris' intentions be other then to provide sound investor relation services for POET investors which is part of his job? He tells it how it is and is drawing from a large number of years of experience in this area. He is IR not PR and I've been very impressed by his level headed approach and responses to questions. A dose of reality and setting healthy expectations is always a good thing from time to time.
Its not the first time that its been suggested that it could take 3-5 years for end products to be built and end up in the hands of consumers as development lifecycles, testing and UAT can take a long time. I should know because I'm deeply involved in that kind of work on a daily basis. I think people over reacted anyway as 3-5 years doesn't mean revenues won't start flowing when expected early next year. I think people need to tame their expectations for the big money to come in closer to when products are fully developed using the POET process and hitting the streets. By then we will likely be bought out or the share price will be much higher anyway due to the contracts and licenses already established ahead of time, and future revenue and growth expectations.
Would I like him to say we are days away from seeing POET chips in devices flying off the shelves? Of course that would be great to hear, but wouldn't be helpful or truthful. Everyone wants to hear that they will be rich tomorrow, and any deviation from that seems to cause outrage. Money clearly does funny things to people. Chris doesn't have any self-serving interests in PTK, so what he says should be taken a bit more to heart then some of the things written here.
