IMO - it is all about AMD and the potential they bring. You mention all their "firsts". That is great but remember it's all about marketing who wins the war. Remember "beta vs vhs". AMD has always been second in CPUs and therefore they have always been innovative to try to get the leap on Intel. Also AMD owns Radeon, so Nvidea will be out for the short term at least.

Also read an interesting article about the US navy successfully testing and deploying laser fired weapons. BAE was one of the team partners in developing this.
