Message: Are large bidding wars in the cards?

On page 18 of the CP it says:

"Market Leaders NRE

Industry leaders in specific markets to buy exclusivity rights

-Lock in POET IP keeping their competition out from using POET IP"

Then it shows two smart phones.

This means whomever gets the rights will likely have a monopoly of the sector for a number of years to come. So, for example, Apple and Samsung would likely get into a bidding war for these rights and considering the implications that could be a very large amount of money.

However, would this be more money than they might receive if all parties were allowed to use the technology? I am sure they did the analysis but would this not also limit innovation in the different industries?
