Another reason for Taylor's timing could have been nothing more than he needed cash for whatever reason for some time now, waited as long as he could anticipating a much higher value, and finally coudn't wait anymore.
This is his life's work. He knows after over 2 decades that things are finally coming together and a serious team is in place to make it happen. It is understandable, even without any risk of insider info, that he too would have expected the stock value to be much higher by now. He waited as long as he could, but had to sell a small portion to cover a personal cost (he still has close on 4,000,000 shares counting held shares and options).
If I needed $ in 6 months time, I wouldn't sell my PTK today, I would be sitting on it until it was close to what I felt was fair value, or near the end of that 6 months when I couldn't wait any longer and needed the money. My reason for selling wouldn't have been that I thought things were going to get worse. I simply couldn't wait any longer and needed the cash. Maybe I wanted a porche and didn't want to wait any longer to enjoy it! Taylor could have been in the same boat, and with plenty of shares still on hand, he won't be hurting.
Afterall, he appears to be a very patient man considering the years he has dedicated to his creation. His sale indicates nothing other than he needed money today (or Oct 1 as it were).
