Not sure why its so hard for some to grasp.

In our business theres a term. Its called "Iceburging".

When we want to say the bare minimum required and there is a security issue or industrial secret(s) at stake, then we Iceburg it. We have the design, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and then legal depts. craft their portions and review it as a whole before release.

Usually, if you find it says little or nothing, or bare bones, or even semantics or word gymnastics, we have done our job.

Why do it ?

IP, technology apparatus, design, or mechanical component theft is a large problem in our industry, whether you know it or not, so extraneous measures are taken at ALL levels to ensure confidentiality.

Let me end this with one question.

Would you rather have vague news releases ? or would you have someone intercept the technology and copycat it and spend the rest of your life in courts around the world trying to get it back along with applicable restitution ?
