He mistakenly assumes silicon will have to get better. With POET, the software will have to get better.

To help create the Internet of Compassion, Apple and other smart device makers will have to depend more on silicon than on software. Clever instruction sets need processors that give them the power to work in real time. Chipmakers have fallen out of favor, eclipsed by programmers, social networks and devices.

Looks like at least 30B chips required and that's at one/unit, which with silicon is not the case.

It is with POET.

Gartner researchers have noted that in 2009 there were 2.5 billion connected devices, and most were PCs, smartphones and tablets. By 2020 analysts expect more than 30 billion connected devices, and every connection requires at least one chip.
