I would not get too concerned about speed at this stage. On the basis of current ODIS lab testing we already know that the improvements are expected to be order of magnitudes faster and less power hungry to CMOS Si chips.

The use of the word comaprable does not always mean 'the same'as' if its used in the proper sense of 'that it can be compared with'. The announcement later explains that the chip once built at 40nm may then be performance tested and dierectly evaoutated against others high end chips.

Tested by a third party this will make POET chips performance stats irrefutable, publishable, marketable , enviable and valuable.
