TECHNICAL AUDIT

Many moons ago, when the Army thought I should learn something about computing, I spent a year on the Services Advanced Information Technology course and messed around with a broad range of computing concepts both academically and practically. They thought I might become a leader of a military software engineering project but unfortunately my talent, or rather lack of it, proved otherwise.
I did learn many things and one that stuck in my mind that pertains to POET development was the concept of that the development curve of a computer project sits on a V (Victor) shaped curve, the down leg is the analysis and design phase and the up leg the build/implementation phase. The point being unless the analysis and design phase is properly completed and thoroughly Quality Assured, the build phase will not run smoothly and any reason to return to analysis/design leg results in a very expensive time consuming restart of the whole development process from the point of re-entry on the down analysis design leg.
So what? From viewing the Hutcheson/Manocha interview Ajit Monacha clearly showed he knows the value and importance of this development concept and by creating IDM at GF under the Foundry 2.0 concept, where both design and build engineers work closely together, success and smooth progress can be achieved.
AM’s research engineering background and vast experience will seek to ensure that product and process engineering principles are of the highest order in POET and it strikes me that the technical audit that he is currently undertaking is a vital part of this product's success. This all takes time but is time well spent. Knowing GT's persistence for thoroughness, these two guys will be talking turkey and enhancing the amazing product that POET will become and its successful implemantation.
This is getting exciting!
