Sure, they would. And surely they and their customers would benefit from reduced power consumptions. However, the high manufacturing costs coming with a) producing several chips and b) carefully interconnecting them would remain what they are: high.
Not so with POET: Everything will be integrated into a single chip, leading to a dramatic drop in manufacturing costs.
And I think we will be fast enough. Our PET/TDK will go to fabs in Q4, a POET/TDK probably in 2015.
