@dash
I respect your opinion aswell. But, I think CC made it clear why we aren't seeking a buyout scenario at this time. We should only expect to get about 40% more than the 90 day average according to him. I want to go to Vegas as much as you do, but I don't want to have to take the bus.
Also, if you believe what the company has told us then you should believe what Copetti said in the Midas letter interview and I quote:
"We are not building POET to be acquired we are building it to stand alone and to be successful on its own. However, the disruptiveness of the inherent nature of the technology is so great that someone will most likely want to control it.
"I don't want to get into specific names; that's about all I'd like to say on that topic for now..."
It's true that POET is proceeding as though they wish to continue and have the POET name stand alongside the Intel's, Samsung's and Apple's of the world. But I don't think Copetti thinks it's likely that they can remain autonomous. In the meantime, the license model offers a means to begin generating revenue and industry renown (maybe 'infamy' is a better word?) while remaining perfectly aligned with the goal of being bought out.
Lest we forget that Sheldon is buying shares in a quantity that will be nearly impossible to unload without depressing the SP. I think, he is expecting to tender his shares to an acquiring company in the relative short term.
The good news it that the buyout should come after we are established on senior exchanges with revenue from our initial foray into the industry on the licensing model.

And as for the irony of my beliefs, if you think that I take everything the company says at face value you should read my posts more carefully. It's true I'm supportive of management, but it's because of their performance to date and because they stand by their commitment to shareholder value. I don't harbour any kind of blind devotion to this company - my respect (for whatever it is worth) for those directing the company and contributing to its technical achievements is well earned.
