You'll never give up on Apple, at least until the partners are announced. :)

Conceivably, Apple could be one of the intial partners, as I suspect there will be some exclusivity granted to those who step up to the plate first, and Apple would like that.

Conversely, without owning POET outright, eventually they will have to share the tech with everyone. Given the headstart that exclusivity would give them, I think it would be enough to satisfy them.

Secrecy has been a hallmark of Apple since the days of Jobs. That they have it is no surprise. To me, what is surprising is that POET has been able to keep everyones' trap shut; it's quite impressive actually.
