Message: THE TIMING OF NEWS REPORTS

We have witnessed a lot of frustration here over the timing/release of news.

Of course it is entirely a matter for Management but as the owners (in part) of the company we have entitlements. But I feel that we need to be realistic and pragmatic about timings, which includes not going into the agonising apoplectic fits, seen on this board, when MS appear to be delayed.

Now that we are in a pre-production phase we are now operating in a soft system environment where the margins of POETs world are not as clear as during the R&D phase. Timings of NR will continue to frustrate us, so we need to be calmer and more rational.

The main problem we encounter has been created by the publication of the table of Milestones against predicted time of completion in the Company Brief. This is a very useful document for planning purposes, but be cautious over quoting the table verbatim, particularly now that management have said that the MS Table timings, although subject to regular review, are just guidelines. i.e. they cannot be taken as target dates for completion. They have also said that since they have sought partnerships and PDA, their work is governed by their relationship with these bodies and the Non Disclosure agreements (NDA) which are now clearly in place.

It is therefore entirely logical, that after the physical achievement of a milestone,by say Dr Taylors technical team, that a period of time has to pass to allow the announcement to be crafted, word-smithed and passed through a Quality Assurance (QA) and approval process, including our partners QA and approval process, before it is released. It is inevitable, because of possible further iteration of the QA and approval process, that this can take time, possibly a long time if several bodies are involved before we the shareholders can get the news.

All we can expect of management is that the decision to release news is made by senior management to shareholders at the earliest opportunity commensurate with these practicalities.

NR timing consumes so much time and concern on this board to the point that I for one feel that I have to seek therapy (go sailing SULA) as I can no longer wade through the post bag on this board, which at times gets clogged with so much sounding off about timing issues and takes too long to read.

NR Timings are simply not going to improve because of the soft system environment POET now works in. The virtue we need is Patience.
