What happens to short sellers in the event of a huge price change up?

Lets say the stock is halted or the demand is so huge the shorts cant get their naked short shares covered?

What happens to them if they dont have the money or means to cover their positions at the corrected price??

Seems to me...there is a lot of this going on and this causes the huge swings we are seeing...

I guess Im assuming alot of this is happening at the retail level or maybe its happening more with hedge funds and they have the money available at whatever the corrected price becomes?
