Fair...
What the presentation lacked wasn't flash, bells whistles, snake-oil sales, polish and some of the ridiculous things that have been posted here by people who are becomming more and more extreme with their blind defensiveness. What was missing was CONTEXT.
Those of us who have been around since OPL know that Dr Taylor will likely win a Nobel Prize when all is said and done. But did the people who didn't know of Geoff before Monday get that sense at all? You yourself said this was a celebration of Taylor...which it was intended to be. Exactly. It wasn't celebrated enough for me. A more detailed and appropriate introduction would have gone a long way.
When it came time for Geoff to speak, this is all we really needed: Why did the good doctor start working on this platform all those years ago.? What was his first breakthrough...his "A-HA" moment? Why has he kept at it for 20 years? And finally, why is POET the solution...which is what he DID deliver on, in very detailed terms. (Which I had no problem with).
I don't expect the Dr to be a dynamic public speaker...but it would have been nice if someone with some presentation skills could have simply helped him fill in some of the blanks for those people who don't already own the stock, on what was the company's biggest promotional stage thus far.
